The SURGERY CENTER COALITION (SCC) has been meeting for almost 11 years, sharing important and timely information and education to its members and attendees. We have always been “ASCs supporting ASCs”.
Marcy and Dorcie started the SCC as non-profit, educational resource group in the waiting room of Dorcie’s EndoscopyCenter with 8 surgery center representatives in attendance. Since that first meeting, we have grown to a group of over 650 ASC representatives.
Our speakers come from throughout tri-state area, all of whom donate their time and expertise to educate this ever growing group of Administrators, Nurse Mangers, Physicians, Accountants and other ASC Ancillary Personnel.
We all know that the day-to-day operations of a SurgeryCenter cannot be done alone. It’s difficult to stay current with ever changing policy, procedure, standards and regulations. Our purpose in starting SCC was to share with each other new information, helpful hints and best practices to help keep us current and compliant.
Some recent topics at our meetings include:
- Infection Control
- Case Costing
- Vendor Credentialing
- State Reporting
- Quality Assurance
- Surveys and Inspections
- Human Resources
- Medical Arbitration
- Insurance issues
- Policies and Procedures
- Difficult Physicians
- Workers Compensation
- Patient Transportation
- Medicare regulations made easy
Our quarterly meetings are held in the law offices of Wilentz, Goldman and Spitzer through the generosity of our attorney sponsor, Michael Schaff. With their help, we hope to continue our mission of providing free education and timely information to our members.
