of Infection Prevention and Control

The Northern and Southern New Jersey Chapters of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. and the New Jersey Department of Health believe that the practice of infection prevention requires the knowledge and understanding of many facets of this health field. This five-day course is designed to prepare the new practitioner or an individual responsible for infection prevention to perform the duties and responsibilities required by his/her position in an ambulatory, alternative, acute, or long-term care facility.

Learning Outcomes
 Describe the modes of transmission, incubation periods, host resistance, and susceptibility to various infections and communicable diseases.
 Implement appropriate measures to prevent the spread of infection.
 Describe the processes used in sterilization, disinfection and sanitation in the health care facility.
 Present the management and communication skills necessary for the coordination of an effective infection prevention program.
 Discuss the governmental regulations and standards which govern infection prevention practice.
 Define criteria for identifying hospital associated infections in the acute or chronically ill patient.

The New Jersey Department of Health, Communicable Disease Service, is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), an accredited approver with distinction, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
This course is pending approval for 31.25 Contact Hours.
Contact hours are given only to those attendees who attend all 5 days and complete an approved course evaluation via the New Jersey Learning Management Network (NJLMN).

The fee for this five-day course is $495; included in this fee are materials, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments.
A refund, less $50, will be given only if written notification of cancellation is received 10 days prior to the course.
